If you've ever participated in any sort of water or beach activity, you know how slippery surfaces can get if you aren't wearing the proper footwear. Water shoes are meant for wet surfaces because they provide the traction, support, and quick-drying properties needed for those types of conditions. Here are more reasons why you should invest in a pair of water shoes.

1. Their thick soles protect your feet from sharp objects.

There are many rocks, shells, and other sharp objects found in the water and on the beach. Walking barefoot on any of these surfaces can lead to cuts, bruises, and very sore feet. Water shoes have a thick sole that protects the bottom of the foot, virtually eliminating the chance of ending up with any cuts or bruises after a day on the water.

2. They provide traction on slipper surfaces.

Whenever there's water involved, things can get slippery. Slips and falls near hard objects like rocks, or near the water, can lead to dangerous situations very quickly. Most water shoes have a rubber outsole which provides traction on slippery surfaces. While they aren't going to be completely slip-proof, they are going to keep you much safer than your bare feet, socks, or shoes without rubber soles will.

3. They dry fast.

Wet feet can leave you feeling very uncomfortable, and even cause conditions like athlete's foot. Wearing water shoes made from lightweight, breathable materials that dry quickly will help prevent this from happening. Most water shoes are made from mesh, lycra, and other stretchy materials that dry quickly in the sun. They will dry quicker if they are not being worn, but they still dry faster than other shoes like running sneakers and hiking boots even when they are worn on the feet.

4. They're insulated and keep feet warm in cold water.

Even on the hottest days, water temperatures can still be chilly if your feet are submerged for long periods of time. The protective layer of water shoes keeps the feet warm and insulated while they are in the water.

We have several styles of water shoes available on our website. They are made from materials that are quick-drying and safe on slippery surfaces. Many also feature non-marking soles so you can feel comfortable wearing them anywhere, even on a fancy boat. Keep your feet protected with water shoes this summer.
