With the big game less than a month away, you might be thinking about having a few friends over to see which team will take home the Lombardi Trophy. It's a fun time for everyone to gather around the television, even if you're not a big football fan. Throwing an amazing party that your friends will rave about for months to come doesn't have to cost a fortune. A few simple tips will have you on your way to hosting an epic Super Bowl party that will even rival the game playing on the big screen.

1. Make sure every guest can clearly see the television. It seems like a no-brainer, but ensuring that each guest has a clear view of the television so they don't miss a moment of the big game is the most crucial component of throwing a great Super Bowl party. Make your television the focal point of the room by placing couches and chairs in a semi-circle shape around it. That way every person gets a great view and won't be bummed that they missed a phenomenal catch or perfect throw. This set-up is also conducive to mingling so your guests can simultaneously socialize and watch the game.

2. Have enough food on-hand. Expect your guests to be at your home for at least four hours- maybe longer depending on if the game goes into overtime. Some people think they need to serve a huge meal at every party, but the best way to feed your guests for parties that last several hours is to serve finger foods. Small appetizers and dips can be laid out on a large table to be served buffet-style. Guests can grab things when they're hungry without feeling rushed to fit in a big meal at halftime. Some great finger food ideas include:

  • Chicken Wings
  • Pizza Logs
  • Spinach-Artichoke Dip
  • Ham & Cheese Party Sandwiches
  • Stuffed Mushrooms
  • Pigs in a Blanket
  • Seven Layer Dip
  • Crockpot Cocktail Meatballs
  • Potato Skins
3. Offer a variety of drinks. Since the Super Bowl is on a Sunday, many guests will have to work the next day. Not everyone will want to drink alcoholic beverages, so be sure to offer a variety of non-alcoholic drinks like soda, water, and virgin mixed drinks for guests to enjoy. To keep things easy, serve up a signature cocktail that can be made both with and without alcohol- such as a Strawberry Daiquiri or Bloody Mary- along with an assortment of flavored waters and sodas.

Keep in mind that guests are coming to watch the game, so planning other activities isn't really necessary. If you choose to have a game option, set up a small card table in case someone tires of the game and wants to play. The main goal of the night should be enjoying great food and drinks while watching an exciting football game.
