If you're a man who's looking to dress to impress, you might be looking for a few life hacks or style secrets that can make you look like a thousand bucks. Speaking of money, fashion can cost quite a bit, since looking good does come with a price tag. That price tag doesn't have to be expensive, though! Believe it or not, there are very simple ways of establishing a polished look. No matter what your style might be – whether it's preppy, hipster, or sporty – you can step outside looking fresh.

In order to achieve a fashionable look that's bound to turn heads, we're offering a how-to guide on simple steps you can take to look more appealing without breaking the bank. Here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind for the next time you pick an outfit to wear to the park, a date, or even to the office.

1. Invest in a Lint Brush

One of the easiest ways to look flawless is to invest in a lint brush. It seems simple enough, but every now and then, we can overlook the small details in our lives. Your lint brush will be the difference in landing that dream job or getting a second date with that hot babe you met on the latest trending dating app. When you have a speck of lint – such as a few unidentified fuzz balls, or even your pet cat's hair – it can instantly make you look a little, well, dirty. If lint is visible on your clothing, it pretty much demonstrates that you're a messy individual! Take a bit of pride in your appearance by rolling up that lint. It'll take maybe ten to twenty seconds out of your day, and it'll definitely make a difference in your overall look. Obvious lint on your clothing is an easy way to tell the world, "Hey, I couldn't care less about the way I look – can't ya tell?" If you're trying to improve your fashion sense, you're going to want to avoid any evidence of lint.

2. Make Sure Your Clothes Fit

Weight can fluctuate, and you can find yourself weighing between ten to even twenty-five pounds heavier throughout the year thanks to the holidays, temperature changes, and more. Of course, everyone's situations differ. As a matter of fact, you can even undergo a weight loss surgery and lose a substantial amount of weight! Whatever the case might be for you – or even if you manage to stick to the same weight throughout the course of the year, Thanksgiving leftovers and all – it's still important to make sure that your clothes fit. Many of us skip the fitting rooms (and really, who enjoys going in there, anyway?) If your clothes are too baggy or extremely tight, you might want to donate them or give them to a friend. Don't try to force an outfit that just doesn't fit! One of the best fashion tips out there is to wear clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in. If your clothes are baggy enough to make you look like a tent, or they're tight enough to expose your belly bulge, then it's time to go shopping.

If something doesn't fit you well anymore but you don't want to part without it, there's no shame in getting that article of clothing tailored. In some instances it's more cost-effective, and it'll allow you to keep your favorite clothes instead of donating them or tossing them into the trash.

3. Iron Your Clothes

If you want to dress well, you're going to have to take the time to ensure that your clothes are cared for. An iron and ironing board will truly take you places in terms of appearance! Much like a lint brush, ironing your clothes will definitely make you look more suitable and impressive. After all, a wrinkled t-shirt or pair of khakis can make you look messy and disheveled, and not in a good way! It might seem incredibly obvious to iron your clothes if they're wrinkled, but ironing can be an annoying and time-consuming task, especially when you're putting together a last-minute outfit. In order to avoid the hassle of ironing at the last minute, it's a good idea to set time aside on the weekend or on a day that you have free time and iron your essential pieces, such as t-shirts, blazers, or work slacks. To make this easier on yourself, determine which clothing pieces you wear the most often and which ones you plan on wearing in the future. Having your clothes ironed will make it easier to choose clothes for new outfit ideas, and it'll make your wardrobe appear larger since you're wearing more clothes that you own rather than ignoring them since they're wrinkled.

4. Learn to Layer

If you weren't previously aware of the importance of layering, it's time to take some notes. Layering your clothing is one of the easiest ways to appear more fashion-savvy than before. You can start off with a v-neck shirt and add a plaid button-up shirt over it, then complete the look with a denim jacket. This would make the plaid button-up shirt appear to be a nice yet subtle detail of the denim jacket, for instance. Layering your clothing is a way to add a unique twist on the clothing options you do have, and it's also an easy way to stay warm during the colder months of the year.

These are four simple ways to improve your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
