There are several essential oils you might use in an aroma air diffuser for colds and upper respiratory problems. These include:

Step 2: Create a Blend
While essential oils can be used by themselves, they are usually most effective when they are used in combination. Here are some blends to try for the common cold.
Essential Oil Blend for Sinus Congestion
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
6 drops camphor essential oil
3 drops peppermint essential oil
Essential Oil Blend for Relieving Coughs
3 drops white camphor essential oil
3 drops frankincense essential oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
Bacterial Killing Blend
3 drops lemon essential oil
3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
3 drops tree tea oil
Step 3: Start the Diffuser
Follow the manufacturer's directions to put the essential oils into your diffuser. Since diffusers rely on water to work, it is best to put it on a flat surface that water will not harm or place a towel or placemat underneath it. If your diffuser has options, then choose the options you want to use.
Step 4: Use the Diffuser
After you have started your diffuser, then sit near it for 30 to 45 minutes. It is not recommended that you leave it on constantly.
If you have a cold or a respiratory infection, then using an
essential oil diffuser may help you feel better. If you do not seem to get better in a few days, then head to the doctor.
